Ah, abandoned blogs.. How sad...
Luckily mine don't qualify ;)
After a whole week of hard work (yes, I'm working - quite a lot even, but I'll tell you next time) yesterday we agreed to dedicate the day to do-nothing-ness. We wanted to go some place and explore, but true to the national character it rained for te better part of the day and our plans fizzled out.
But suddenly there came my knight in shining armor - or better, in shining laptop (prince and all, but it's the third millennium) - with a veeeeery welcome idea: why don't we up ad go to the movies?
And to the movies we went! Here, to be precise. A small cinema, from the '20s, really beautiful. And to add to the pleasure, we were the only ones - in the whole cinema, not only our movie (I know, I know, it won't last...). And more, we saw Coraline, which is truly good. There are a few differencies from the original book but Gaiman (author, writer, storyteller and general hero of the household) approved so everything is right with the world again.
Visually astonishing, an impeccable story... joy. And then, me really likez the movies :D
On our way back from the movie, as we were strolling in the city (cause it's north here, and light until 11 pm) we came across a poetry festival. The stage on a boat moored in front of the town hall, the cafés open late, music and classic American poetry. What to do? We sat. Noblesse oblige...
We enjoyes Walt Whitman, Ginsberg, Brodsky, and even Public Enemy and Kurt Cobain! And I was there enjoying it, sipping coffee and thinking that it would be impossible to pull off something like that in Torino. Local poets reading aloud in English and the crowd listening and cheering like a rock concert.
See, this is the kind of things that kill homesickness in a whiz :)
